Our team of certified arborists will safely complete the job while keeping the aesthetics of your trees in mind. We pride ourselves on leaving your yard cleaner and better looking than before we came!
There are many reasons to prune a tree! When deciding if a tree needs pruning, here is what our certified arborists look for:
Dead or dying branches.
The tree is encroaching on your home (or your neighbor’s home).
It is growing close to electrical wires.
There are structural problems such as rubbing branches.
Pruned trees not only have better appearances but they are also healthier, live longer, and are less likely to get damaged in a storm.
Timing is important when it comes to tree pruning. Depending on the species, it is usually best to prune trees during dormant months (November through April). Species such as oak, elm and ash trees must only be pruned during dormant months due to the risk of insect/disease transmission. It’s also beneficial to prune before leaves and foliage obscure the structure of the tree.
There is definitely a wrong way and a right way to prune a tree. If you’re not sure how to safely get the job done, contact the certified arborists at Birch Tree Care for help!
As much as we love trees for their aesthetics, shade and added property value, there are times when tree removal is necessary.
A tree may need to be removed if:
It is dead or dying.
It’s unhealthy and suffering from disease or insect infestation.
It has been damaged beyond repair from a storm.
It’s growing too close to your house or utility lines.
It’s crowding other trees on your property.
It has structural problems such as cracks or interior decay.
Tree removal can be dangerous and complicated. Our specialists have the right equipment (aerial buckets, lifts, and cranes if needed), expertise and training to safely remove large trees without damaging your property. Our certified arborists will do a thorough evaluation and provide a free quote for tree removal if it is necessary. We’ll work with the power company to ensure all power lines are turned off, obtain all required permits and even notify your neighbors of the work being done in the area.
When you have a tree removed, the stump is often left behind. Unwanted tree stumps in your yard or garden area can be unattractive and take up valuable space. They may also be hazardous to you or or the lawn mower! Stump grinding is the safest, most efficient way to remove a stump. Don’t worry about the wood chips and debris. Our professional technicians will thoroughly clean up after the job is done and leave your yard tidier than before they arrived.
We also offer herbicide treatment for stumps that are not accessible by machine.
Cabling Support Systems
If you have a damaged tree, we may be able to repair it! We offer cabling and bracing for trees that have splits or cracks in branch unions. We also offer tree staking if it is possible to save a tree that has suffered wind damage.
Safety is our Top Priority
Before starting each job, the Birch Tree Care crew does a job site inspection to determine any hazards or targets. We set up a safe and secure wok zone with proper signage and require all employees to wear proper PPE (personal protective equipment).
We are fully insured and licensed, so you’re in good hands with the Birch Tree Care certified arborists and technicians.

"I hired Birch Tree Care to trim a very large black walnut tree in my back yard. Its branches were touching power lines, almost dragging on my garage roof, and hanging so low in my neighbor's yard that they had to move their trampoline. Birch Tree Care had to remove some large branches, but after they finished, the tree still has a balanced, aesthetically pleasing appearance. Thanks for the extra trip to trim the low hanging branches over my garden!" - MARY, ST. PAUL
